As June draws near, the start of the Houston summer is upon us; “where did the springtime months go” might be a good question to ask: the old saying “time flies” definitely applies here. No worries though—June 1st will officially start National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables month! Make sure you’re ready with these tips from your friends at Bel Furniture.
We’re all for the idea of growing our own fruits and vegetables, but what about those of us with the dreaded “black thumb”?
Never fear! Your friends at Bel Furniture have a solution! We have stores all over Texas—in Houston, San Antonio, Beaumont, and Del Rio—and three of our four locations are full of fresh produce options beyond the traditional grocery store. With so many different Farmers Markets, there’s no shortage of fresh fruit and vegetables. We’ll cover a few of the best market selections for you from Beaumont, Houston, and San Antonio.
Beaumont
The Beaumont Farmers Market is a great spot for the community to come together. It is open each Saturday from 8am-11am, and runs until November. That’s plenty of time to explore and support your local farmers!
Houston
Houston has so many choices that choosing anything can quickly become overwhelming. If you don’t know where to begin, try visiting Canino Produce Co. on Airline Drive. With a huge inventory, this market has no shortage of options. There are also two gigantic rows of vendors after you leave the storefront. This spot features protection from the rain, so that is a perk most markets don’t have. Canino Produce has been a fixture since 1958, so if you’ve never been before, you’re in for a treat!
San Antonio
San Antonio’s Quarry Farmers and Ranchers Market features an abundance of fresh produce just for you! This is an year-round outdoor market that meets on Sundays from 9am-1pm. Keep in mind that it meets rain or shine!

We love visiting Farmers Markets! Remember though, this list is definitely not complete. Have you had a great experience at a market, or do you know of any other great ones that we missed? Feel free to share!
